Brain lab after school program

The purpose of our program is to help 5th graders build the skills they need to be successful in middle school, including but not limited to: time management skills, organization (binder/backpack), planning, how to start challenging/boring tasks, how to break down large projects to make them less overwhelming, working memory and more!

At this time our program is only available at Rocky Ridge Elementary School in Hoover, AL.

What will they learn?

- How to access, understand, and plan their homework based on interpreting an agenda from Google Sheets.

- Binder/backpack organization strategies - we will be checking backpacks/binders at the beginning of each class, and the kids can earn prizes for keeping it organized.

- Note taking strategies

- Study strategies

- Time management

- How to break down large projects into smaller parts to make them more manageable.

- Strategies to start and finish things that they don't want to do.

Why kids love it:

We will play games that let us move around a bit and get our brains firing after a day of school. We will frame executive functioning skills through fun activities such as:

- Creating Rube Goldberg machines

- Planning dream vacations

- Doing fun activities and estimating the time they take

- Increasing working memory load while playing familiar games like UNO, Jenga, Candy Land and more!

Details and cost

There is a one-time registration fee of $25 per school year, and classes are $80/month. Our class will run weekly on Tuesdays from 2:45 - 3:45 p.m. The class will have a max of 10 students, so make sure you register your student as soon as possible. If there is enough interest, a second class may be opened up on another day.

Included in the cost of the class parents will be invited to a free 30-minute parent call to discuss how strategies are being used in the home and how to get the most out of this class for your family (a $60 value!).

To register your child fill out the form on the right. Upon receipt of your registration you will receive an invoice for the one time registration feed and the first month of classes.
